Freisenbruch is reminding boat owners to prepare early when severe weather approaches. Before a storm, secure sails and canvas covers, check bilge pumps and batteries, inspect mooring gear and monitor marina communications. Boat owners should also coordinate haul-outs early, remove drain plugs from stored vessels, double up dock lines and take loose gear, electronics, cushions, fishing equipment and valuables home. A few proactive steps can help keep boats and equipment better protected throughout hurricane season.
